Frequently asked questions.

FAQ: GROOMING

  • Do I need an appointment for grooming?

Absolutely. We are an appointment-based facility. We do NOT accept walks in of any kind.

  • How do I request an appointment online?

You may book a grooming appointment online by visiting the “BOOK NOW” page. (If you have a mix, you may select whatever breed they look more like.)

  • How long does a grooming service typically take?

Cutting a dog’s hair is NOT like cutting human hair. Our customers don’t sit still. Often pets haven’t seen a groomer in 4-6 weeks or longer and we cannot predict the amount of time your pet will require when scheduling an appointment. We estimate for most grooming appointments to take anywhere from 3 hours with 4 hours being the maximum. Please understand that some dogs and large double coated dogs will take longer for grooming. If you have multiple pets, your appointment times will also take longer. Our staff will send you a 15-minute heads-up via text or phone call so you can start heading over.

  • My dog’s hair is knotted/matted. Do I need to cut the hair short?

Pets get matted. It happens! For this reason, we strongly recommend a schedule based off your pet’s coat, and the desired length. Our groomers will always guide you in letting you know what is best for your pet! Matted hair can be painful for your pet. It is entangled hair that is pulling tighter and tighter on the skin with each passing day. This can cause bruising and even abrasions if tight enough. Sometimes we can brush out smaller matting, or spot shave depending on location. In the instance your pet is heavily matted we must do the humane option and that is to shave your pet down. There is a fee for dematting of $1/min of either brushing out mats or having to shave severely matted pets. It is never our desire to shave a pet down as we like them cute and fluffy just like you!

  • What vaccinations do you require?

Currently the State of Indiana only requires pet owners to have the rabies vaccine for their pets. Therefore, this is our only requirement for grooming.

For boarding and daycare services, we require: Rabies, Distemper, Bordetella, and a fecal exam.

FAQ: BOARDING/DAYCARE

  • Is dog daycare good for dogs?

Yes! Doggy daycare is good for most dogs.

Bringing your dog to daycare has its benefits, including those that improve your dog’s quality of life:

  • Plenty of mental stimulation and physical activity: Not only does this tire your pup out, but it can also reduce unwanted behaviors like constant barking.

  • An outlet to expend excess energy, exercise, and remain active: Your dog will be able to participate in daily exercise through group activities. Participants play in a cage-free environment while enjoying the freedom to stretch their legs.

  • Eases separation anxiety: By giving your pup time away from you in a safe, fun, and stimulating environment, dog daycare gives your pup great practice for alone time. Our team will give your dog the attention and care they need to help make their stay as low-stress as possible.

  • The chance to socialize with other dogs of a similar size and temperament: Dogs are social animals, and they benefit from spending time with other dogs! Each dog is evaluated to ensure appropriate and comfortable play with the other dogs, and maintain a completely safe and healthy environment. If your dog doesn’t do well with other dogs, they can still benefit from a dog daycare—group play will be replaced with one-on-one playtime with our staff.

******Keep in mind, however, that if your dog is reactive (common among dogs who were rescued from abusive owners or situations), dog daycare may not be the best idea. Please let us know if your dog struggles with aggression, and we can discuss whether or not dog daycare would be a good option.

  • How often should my dog attend daycare?

Daycare is recommended as often as possible! Dogs are highly adaptable and enjoy a routine that is predictable. Most commonly dogs will come between 2-4 times per week, but we very often see dogs upwards of 4-5 times a week! The exercise is wonderful to keep them entertained and socialized, and they will make “friends” they can consistently see and interact with at daycare. We love to see your dogs as often as we can and establish our own relationships with them, in turn making them much more comfortable while in our care.

Can any dog come in for dog day care or boarding?

In order to maintain our high standards and satisfaction ratings, your pup must be:

  • Able to pass the meet and greet

  • Friendly with dogs, people, and children

  • Free of open wounds or stitches of any kind

  • Free of ticks and fleas
    In good overall health

  • Current on Rabies, Distemper and Bordetella vaccines

  • Not pregnant or nursing

  • Free of any injuries, seizure free, free of any illness or communicable disease, as we are not an animal hospital

  • What does a meet and greet entail?

If your dog will be participating in dogdaycare with CMC, in order to provide the most safe and enjoyable environment possible, our trained and certified team will evaluate every dog on their first day. During the evaluation process, we are assessing the temperament of your dog and their compatibility with a group of dogs. When your dog is being evaluated for doggy daycare, we take a few steps to ensure the safety of all guests that utilize our daycare services. Dogs are social animals by nature, but some may not acclimate well to a larger group setting. Our evaluations will allow our trained staff to determine who is a good fit for our daycare group and who would be more appropriate for one-on-one activity. Our staff will take it slow with all dogs, most evaluations lasting at least 30-40 minutes, if not more. During this time, we are introducing your dog to our existing group of dogs one at a time, so as not to overwhelm the new dog, and allow them to greet our pack slowly and safely.

Our meet and greet includes:

·         Hands-on meet-and-greet, where our team. We will make sure your dog is comfortable with being handled and check for fleas, ticks, or other injuries that may worsen during play

·         One-on-one introduction with our personal dogs. (Theo, Xayla, and Frankie)

·         Slow introduction into the pack. Letting the dogs greet each other one by one.

  • Why is a meet and greet required?

Because safety is CMC’s top priority, we have created policies to ensure a happy, healthy environment for all dogs in our care. We are very proud of our high safety standards. Therefore, all dogs must pass a “meet and greet” before being able to participate in our regular daycare or boarding with us. This process is completely free! The meet lasts at least 30-45 minutes because we want to take the time to introduce your pup to the pack and determine if our cage-free environment is the right fit for them.

We require all new dogs to participate in a meet and greet because:

    ·         It gives us the chance to slowly introduce your pup to a new environment and not overstimulate them

    ·         It ensures the overall safety of your dog, other dogs in our care, and our team.

    ·         We want to make sure your beloved furry family member is comfortable and enjoys being in a social setting with other dogs

  • What vaccinations do you require to participate in dog boarding/daycare?

We require the following vaccines to be up to date: Rabies, Distemper/Parvo, Bordetella, as well as a clean fecal exam. Please note proof of vaccinations IS required BEFORE boarding or doing any daycare with us.

  • What are your daycare hours?

Our daycare hours are from 5AM to 6PM. At CMC, we strive to be as accomodating as possible. If you are in need of care outside of our daycare hours, please contact us and we will see what we can do for you!

  • Does my dog need to be neutered or spayed?

While it is NOT a requirement, we strongly encourage you to get your pup fixed sooner than later!

  • Should I bring my own bowls?

We have a ton of bowls! We would ask that you leave any dog bowls at home. We don’t want yours getting mixed up with ours.

  • Can you administer medication?

Yes! We just ask that you provide us with clearly written instructions. We do not accept dogs with extensive injury past or present, a history of seizures , or any illness or communicable disease, as we are not an animal hospital. Thank you for understanding!

  • Do I need to make a reservation for daycare or boarding?

Absolutely. We require every new dog added to our pack to do a meet and greet. With that being said, it is very difficult to accomodate last minute reservations for daycare or boarding.

  • Am I able to schedule a tour of your facility?

Unfortunately, we do not allow tours of our home for insurance purposes. However, we have worked diligently to create a safe and comfortable environment for all our guests. You can trust that our experienced staff is dedicated to providing the best care for your dog.

  • What should I pack for my dog’s stay?

We recommend that you bring your dog’s food, any medications they may need, and a familiar blanket or toy to make them feel more comfortable during their stay. If you do not have a dog blanket, bed, or toy.. Not to worry, we have plenty :)
